Its about 7:30 am on a Wednesday morning. Though it’s early, people are already in full swing. The more 60 boats in Trawler Fest are getting cleaned, spruced, shined, buffed, and reviewed. The 3 floating docks were like a boat beauty salon. It was an insane mad house. Wondering why this was all going on? Well, it was the 2008 Trawler Fest in Solomon’s Maryland. Our boat was featured as one of the two Nordhavns. There was soap everywhere, and when you walked down the docks, you would most likely get sprayed with a hose. Everyone was busy doing something to get ready for the big show.

24 hours later, the first people began trickling in…in pouring rain I might add. It was a slow turnout the first day, however I did make a new friend. Her name was Maybea. She is a 2 year old Yorkiepoo dog, though she is full grown and smaller than my cat. I got a job walking her every three hours, though I loved her so much I couldn’t stay away fro more than an hour and a half.

On Friday, the sun came out. It was a much better turnout and people were having lots of fun. I enjoyed being on the boat talking to all sorts of different people. I made lots of friends, most of which I’ll probably stay in touch with.

Saturday was the same, and I continued walking Maybea. We were practically best friends. That night was the most awesome party ever. It was a Luau. Everyone had on leis and hula skirts, as well as some really crazy tropical wear. I was awarded youngest trawler fest attendee. It was a huge honor. I also got to sing back up vocals for the great band that was playing. We partied until about 11:30, and then had my very first Segway ride. It was incredibly fun and I am hoping we can get some for the boat.

On Sunday the show ran until about 2:00, people started leaving then. Everyone was shutting down. I was sad to see it all end, but I had such a fantastic weekend, and I can’t wait for my next Trawler Fest. Plus, I am going to see Maybea in Annapolis at another boat show!

Whee!!!!! I loved the Segway.
