Friends.Food.Fun. All these things about sum up the beautiful place I just came from…Norman’s Cay. Do you ever go to a place with the lowest possible expectations, and walk away with a glowing sense? That is what happened here. In the late 70’s, Norman’s Cay was running an illegal drug market. Of course, its long gone by now, but we still didn’t really want to go to the island. But, sometimes, you just stumble upon things. That is what happened now.

We stepped ashore windblown, and rather stressed, as we just pulled our dingy up on some sharp rocks in the night. Five minutes later, we were venturing up a small, sandy path, surrounded by short, shrubby, palm trees. At the end of this path was the Norman’s Cay Beach Club. well, it was really just the cutest little hut that served food. When we walked in and were met with friendly faces and big smiles, I knew this was going to be great. It was. We were seated at the rustic bar, and the owner, Stefan, took our order. He was so nice and friendly, that immediately, our family and his were kindred spirits. A family across the bar from us struck up a conversation. They actually live on this little island (which is mostly deserted). They have a son about my age, Connor, and we were fast friends too. So, lets review. Food, Friends, and lots of fun. Norman’s cay is high on the list.
