When you grow up in Colorado, Christmas is snow, sledding, and snow angles. Christmas in the Bahamas? Well…let me tell you, its not the snowy Colorado Christmas, but it was still fantastic
On Christmas Eve, we invited several of our new cruising friends over for a fun christmas party. Sharing Holiday cheer is always a good thing to do. Then, my mom and I made a big dinner, as we always do to celebrate. After dinner, while we were watching It’s A Wonderful Life, we heard the oddest noise on the VHF. Pausing the movie, we ran up stairs to see what it was! A voice cracked over the radio… “Merry Christmas All! This is Santa flying
over the Bahamas to all you kids!” What a great bit of Christmas spirit.
As usual, on Christmas Morning, I was up with the sun waking my parents up. Even though we were on a boat, on a mooring ball, on the ocean, Christmas Traditions were perfect. From Santa’s presents, to the hot coco and cranberry nutbread, from playing new games we got, to enjoying the new snacks, Christmas was just as great as it was in Colorado.
Well, some things were different, beginning when we got our suits on, and jumped into the aquamarine water. I can now say I went swimming on Christmas Day, something that you couldn’t do even if you wanted to in Colorado. The next difference was the fact that we took OUR DINGY over to THE BEACh to sing carols with other cruisers in front of the WHALE SKELETON. It was so much fun to spread more Christmas joy. Thanks and a Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a goodnight.
